About the Teacher…

I have lived in New Meadows all my life.  I am a fifth generation resident.  I have been teaching first grade for twelve years and am now teaching a first/second grade combo class and love it!  I attended Meadows Valley from K-12 and am starting my 28th year working in the district.  In September of 2015 I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading.  I received my teaching degree from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.  I am married to a wonderful man named Randy and we have been married for 27 years.  We have three wonderful children.  LeAndra graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Criminal Justice.  She is working as a Fish Culturist at Clearwater Fish Hatchery.  Randi Leigh graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Sport Administration and Business with presidential honors.   She is working as a Senior Training Advisor at College of Western Idaho.   Cody is a junior at University of Idaho working on a degree in Wildlife/Fisheries Resources.  There is no other place I would rather be working.  I love it here at school and in Meadows Valley.  Life is spectacular!

What’s happening in Class?

May 2018:

Welcome to May 2018!  I can’t believe it is the end of the year already!  A lot of end of the year testing will be taking place this month with the IRI fluency assessment as well as the MAP math and reading assessments.  I would encourage students to eat healthy and get plenty of rest.  We will continue working on reading fluency and comprehension.  We will be doing our plant and rock unit to end the year.   Plants and flowers are growing and so are our first and second graders!!  I am so proud of all of my students!!  Have a marvelous May!!!

Love, Mrs. Smith
