Meadows Valley Mountaineer Football Extracurricular activities such as football are not a diversion but rather an extension of a good educational program.
Meadows Valley students who participate in activity programs tend to have higher grade-point averages, better attendance records,
and fewer discipline problems than students generally. Meadows Valley football programs provide valuable lessons
for practical situations - teamwork, sportsmanship, winning and losing, and hard work.
While involved in Meadows
Valley football, students learn self-discipline, build self confidence, and develop skills to handle competitive situations
– the very same qualities observed in responsible adults and productive citizens.
The coaches and players
invite you to come to the games and cheer them on as they represent the Meadows Valley Mountaineers on the football field
this season!

Tom Perkins Assistant Varsity Football Coach Tom Perkins grew up in Days Creek, Oregon. He
played football from his sixth grade year in school, until he graduated. The position he played was defensive end. Fourteen
years ago Tom moved his family to New Meadows. Tom has been coaching, assisting, and working with the weight training program
with the Meadows Valley football team for seven years. He has a strong background in eight man football. This
summer most of the Meadows Valley team went to football camp. Tom said he was very impressed with their performance. To him
it was obvious that the guys worked hard on their physical conditioning and were ready to play hard this season. The team
is very optimistic about the football season this year. Tom goals are to focus on improving offense plays, defense, and special
teams. Tom’s wife is Angela and he has two sons, who attend Meadows Valley School. Tanner is a junior and Trent is an
eighth grader.

A
Word from Coach Dion Flaming...
I anticipate
that this season of junior high football will be a time of building strength, skill, and confidence. The focus will be on
the fundamentals and how to think and not react. The team will be working hard on conditioning. Strength is not only physical,
but mental and knowing what to do in situations that arise helps to build the mental fortitude necessary to improve skills.
Learning to play as a team and putting players in positions where they can excel is very important to me as a
coach. I hope many boys come out and participate this season. I will emphasize the Athletic Directors theme for this year
of sports at Meadows Valley...and help the Mountaineer Junior High Football Team Climb to Excellence.
