About the Teacher…

I have lived in New Meadows all my life.  I am a fifth generation resident.  I have been teaching first grade for twelve years and am now teaching a first/second grade combo class and love it!  I attended Meadows Valley from K-12 and am starting my 28th year working in the district.  In September of 2015 I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading.  I received my teaching degree from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.  I am married to a wonderful man named Randy and we have been married for 27 years.  We have three wonderful children.  LeAndra graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Criminal Justice.  She is working as a Fish Culturist at Clearwater Fish Hatchery.  Randi Leigh graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Sport Administration and Business with presidential honors.   She is working as a business manager at a property management company.   Cody is a junior at University of Idaho working on a degree in Wildlife/Fisheries Resources.  There is no other place I would rather be working.  I love it here at school and in Meadows Valley.  Life is spectacular!

What’s happening in Class?

November 2017:

Welcome to November 2017! I cannot believe it is November already!  We will be working on Thanksgiving curriculum along with a nutrition unit.  Your child will learn about the food guide pyramid and what foods are needed to stay healthy.  They will learn about fruits, vegetables, meat, grains, and dairy.  Lots of extra things will be sent home to help families make smart food choices at home.  Even some recipes will show up 🙂 Have a novel November!!

Love, Mrs. Smith
