The Meadows Valley District #11 school board consists of five members who are elected by the voters of the district. Board members serve four-year staggered terms and represent a specific geographic area. The board sets school policies within the guidelines of the law and the Idaho State Board of Education. Board members are responsible for the following tasks:              Set and evaluate school district goals Decide how district money is spent and approve the budget. Select the superintendent. Serve as a liaison between the schools and the community. Stay current with educational trends and work toward change when necessary. Approve personnel changes and salaries. Approve district instructional programs.

The public is welcome to attend school board meetings. Board meetings are held the second Monday of the month and begin at 7:00 PM. Special sessions are announced to the public in advance. Zone 1 New Meadows Appointed 11/2009 Term Ends:  7/2013 Levi Burden P.O. 27 Box New Meadows, Idaho 83654 Home: 347-2063 Cell: 315-2811		Levi Burden started to serve on the Meadows Valley School Board when a vacancy ensued the fall of 2009. He ran unopposed and was elected to a three year term in June of 2010. He has enjoyed the learning experience and the challenges. He looks forward to serving his community and school in the years to come.    Levi grew up in Forks, Washington.  His parents moved to New Meadows when he was thirteen in 1993.  He started attending Meadows Valley School in the eighth grade and graduated in 1997. He has found various ways to pay his way over the years, but his love for construction and finish woodworking led him to start his own construction company, Burden Enterprises LLC.  He has been operating this business for over three years and has found that he really enjoys being self-employed. In his free time Levi loves to ski, fish, hunt, hike, play basket ball, baseball, and music (guitar, drums).   Levi’s vision for the school would be to provide a safe, diverse, technologically advanced atmosphere. He would like to see students and groups of students be given the opportunity to advance their knowledge of our community, our country, and the world we live in and  that students should know the history which has brought our country this far.  He believes that it is important for students to have the opportunity to realize they can have dreams, and those dreams can be anything they want. If they work hard and pay attention they can achieve all their dreams.   Levi has a love for this town and the people who make it what it is.  He considers it a great place to live for his wife Shannon, and his four boys, Trevor, David, Jesse, and Logan.          burdenenterprisesllc@hotmail.com
Zone 2 New Meadows Appointed 05/2007 Term Ends:  7/2011 Holly McDonald P.O. Box 693 New Meadows, Idaho 83654 Home: 347-3092 Work: 634-4061 ext.139 Cell: 630-3784		Holly has served on the Meadows Valley School board since 2007. She was born on January 1st in Winchester, Virginia. Her father teased her about losing out on the tax deduction that year. That may have set the stage for what Holly would do later in life. Holly grew up the youngest of five, in the small town of Stephens City, Virginia. She joined the swim team and participated in local competitions and the Junior Olympics.  Holly graduated from James Wood High School in 1985. She went to Virginia Tech and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business with a major in Accounting. Later she went on to earn her C.P.A. license. She married Lester McDonald who worked for the Virginia Fish and Game Department. Holly worked for C.P.A. firms, specializing in audits of entities such as schools, and city and county governments. Wanting to move to the West, a job opportunity opened for Holly’s husband with Idaho Fish and Game and they moved to Idaho. Holly presently works as the Director of Accounting for McCall Memorial Hospital.  Holly has two daughters Saige is a 10th grader and Hannah is an 9th grader. Both attend Meadows Valley School. Holly believes her role on the school board is to make sure that students get the best education possible. A small school should not diminish opportunities. She wants to make sure they have the resources they need to get a quality education. Holly has very little free time, but she does continue to enjoy swimming.              idahoholly@yahoo.com
Zone 3 Meadows Appointed 05/2007 Term Ends:  7/2011 Stacy Dreyer P.O. Box 99 New Meadows, Idaho 83654 Home: 347-2352 Work: 347-2151		Stacy Dreyer has served on the Meadows Valley school board since 2003. She was raised in New Meadows and attended Meadows Valley School kindergarten through the 12th grade. After graduating in 1983, Stacy attended Boise State University.  She met her husband in New Meadows. Her husband is the owner of Strutters and has been in business for 26 years.   Stacy has worked at the bank in New Meadows for eighteen years. Stacy has three children who went through the Meadows Valley school system. After graduation, her daughter Kendra attended Idaho State University. From 2006 through 2010 her daughter Kendra lived in South Africa serving in a ministry called Y.W.A.M. which stands for Youth with a Mission. Currently Kendra is working for Meadows Valley School as a substitute teacher and as the assistant volleyball coach. Stacy’s son Kyler is still living in Moscow, Idaho. He works at Winco. Stacy’s daughter Kazia is married and is attending Idaho State University in Pocatello.   Stacy provides an important perspective on education for the Meadows Valley school board since she grew up in New Meadows and all her children attended and graduated from Meadows Valley. She is a firm believer in teaching students the basics such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. She believes that these fundamentals provide a basis for success so students can go anywhere and do anything. She believes that the New Meadows community provides a strong caring support network for students. Zone 5 Tamarack Appointed 05/2006 Term Ends:  7/2013 Barbara Dixon (Chair) P.O. Box 759 New Meadows, Idaho 83654 Home: 347-3143		Barbara has served on the Meadows Valley School Board since 2005. She spent her first 25 years in Seattle, Washington where she graduated from West Seattle High School and the University of Washington. With an Industrial Education degree she took on a new program for the Seattle School District, Industrial Education for the Multiply Handicapped with students age 12-21. A move to Beaverton four years later led her to teaching sixth grade and a new challenge of developing a marine coastal outdoor education program. When a move to Bend, Oregon occurred six years later she added Media Certification to her job skills and taught Library Science to middle school students and eventually completed her career with her love of sixth graders in the middle school. After retiring, she volunteered to teach English as a second language to adults and tutored adult math classes as well.   Her love of the outdoors led her to join the National Ski Patrol in 1983. She has since earned national awards for outstanding service in 88, meritorious service in 1994, and distinguished service in 2009. She has served four years as the Division Director for Washington, Oregon and Idaho and has been on the National Board of Director for six years. She currently serves on the executive board of the Idaho School Board association.   Barbara is an advocate for schools providing the best education possible regardless of size, location or resources. Students should come away from their education experience with the breadth, knowledge and inspiration to become lifelong learners. Education does not stop at graduation from either high school or college and students should be prepared to continue learning throughout their lifetime. As a board member her goal is to aid in assuring that the Meadows Valley students have the best possible resources available to them in order to learn, grow and achieve their educational goals. bada2@cwomc.com
Clerk of Board Carol Whitney Drawer F 500 N. Miller New Meadows, Idaho 83654 Phone: 347-2411 FAX: 347-2624		Carol Whitney has served as clerk for the Meadows Valley school board since 1993. Before that time she worked as the attendance clerk and district secretary. Presently her job description also includes working as the Meadows Valley School business manager. Carol was born in Caldwell, Idaho. Her family moved to New Meadows when she was a fourth grader. After graduating from Meadows Valley in 1978, Carol went to the University of Idaho. In 1980 she returned to New Meadows and married Kenny Whitney. They have three boys who all graduated from Meadows Valley. Shaun graduated from Boise State University with a degree in English Literature. Cory graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in Business Marketing. Beau attended University of Idaho where he had a successful track and field career and graduated with a degree in Communications.  Carol’s favorite thing about Meadows Valley School is its small size and family atmosphere. She says it is a place where everyone cares about the kids. Carol enjoys her flower garden, and she likes to read and bake.
