Biographical Info

Hi! My name is Kim Thompson and I teach secondary science at Meadows Valley.  This is my first year teaching in the classroom but I’ve been educating in some form or fashion for eight years.  I love being outside and the further in the backcountry the better.  Prior to moving to New Meadows I was working on my masters at the University of Wyoming and spending my summers guiding and instructing sea kayaking, backpacking and canoeing in Washington and Alaska.  My time as a course director for Outward Bound taught me to see education through the lens of Kurt Hahn.  He said, “I regard it as the foremost task of education to insure the survival of these qualities: an enterprising curiosity, an undefeatable spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self denial, and above all, compassion.”
