Student News for the week of October 20th

By Dakota Larimore

The seniors went on a  career/college trip on Monday, October 20th. The group travelled to Ontario, Oregon. I asked senior Hoyt Rhodes how the trip was and he said “It was good, it was fun and we saw a ton of careers and colleges.”

FFA kids and a few other students went to the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Fall on Tuesday. They learned about a couple of the programs offered, including: the welding program, the vet tech program, the agriculture program, and the aquaculture program.

Mr. McIlvain had a meeting with students interested in wrestling on  Thursday. The group discussed various gear needed for the sport and what students would need to do to get started.

This week the high school and middle school mentor groups had a competition where they used a pack of spaghetti, 1 yard of tape, 1 yard of string, and 1 marshmallow. The task was to use the materials to make the tallest tower for the marshmallow.  The supplies were to be used to suspend a marshmallow as high as possible.  Ms. Melad’s group won the competition, Mr. Knapp’s came in 2nd and Ms. Kerby’s mentees rounded out the top three.
